My two darling and adventurous friends went on a Pacific Northwest road trip, accompanied by a Volkswagen pop-up camper van, where John proposed with an Old European cut diamond ring, from 1920, along the John Day River in Oregon. I was so excited when Courtney contacted me to start brainstorming ideas for this shoot. Courtney, an event planner at the American Museum of Natural History (eeeee!) and John, a biology teacher and prior Eagle scout, are big fans of mother nature. They knew they wanted their engagement session to be out in the wilderness, with a little vintage camping inspiration (courtesy of suburban camping co. and some of Courtney’s father’s treasures he had in the barn). It also was, first and foremost, to capture the love they have for each other; as well as their free spirited personalities; in an environment that spoke true to their shared passions: camping, nature, outdoors. John and Courtney are definitely old souls and they loved the idea of incorporating their favorite flea market finds, along with borrowed vintage details. I love these two to death and can’t wait to see them tie the knot. Enjoy these photographs as much as I enjoyed shooting them, which was easy as pie when you love someone as much as they love each other.
