Summer has treated us oh so well these past few months. Although we frequent the beach often, our backyard has become a favorite place to spend our days, tending to our little garden (um, growing carrots is not my forte), eating all the cheeses and watching my dahlias grow like crazy (along with Castella!) (no seriously, stop growing). As much as Shawn and I truly love to travel, a Saturday or Sunday spent at home with each other and our gal is sometimes absolute bliss. And I’m a-ok with it. We’re wild like that.
And speaking of being homebodies and really cool, since Castella was born, I decided to take on a more natural approach to just about everything to do with keeping our home clean and us healthy. I’ve always been pretty crunchy when it came to our food and how we eat but I’ve never given a second thought to dousing my home with lysol. From disinfecting to laundry to what we wash our dishes with, I’ve become that “green” mom who doesn’t want her home full of chemicals. I still can’t seem to let go of bleach for cleaning my bathroom but I’m working on it! I’m working on it.
I’ve been a big fan of essential oils for so many years, but I didn’t really ever use them to their full potential. They have changed so much about our home life and I feel so much better about Cas breathing in lavender, peppermint and lemon all day long. From diffusing oils to purify the air, to helping us relax and wind down before bed, to a little lavender on my girls twitties after a bath, to a few drops of lemon in my water, to drops of purification in my dishwasher and thieves in my tea to prevent getting sick, to so so many more reasons I am officially hooked.
Here’s to a healthy and fantastic smelling fall guys.
Cheers.
